The children of Shannonvale have no place to play. The only public amenity area in the village, a small green area next to the River Argideen, has, for over 20 years, been a public health hazard.
Raw, untreated sewage constantly flows across the surface of the park, from a municipal septic tank which has long been unfit for purpose. This overflow not only contaminates our only public recreational space, but also risks contaminating the river which supplies all of Clonakilty with its drinking water.
