Following the residents meeting of the 19th of June, a meeting took place with the Council regarding the speeding of vehicles through the village. Cork County Council have agreed to carry out an assessment of the traffic situation at the village to develop a long term proposal to manage the traffic. This will involve an assessment, development of a proposal and design, public consultation, funding approval and delivery which will take time.
In the interim, Cork County Council have enhanced the line painting on the road to bring more attention to the speed limit and are to install bollards together with enhancing the road signage. It is not possible to reinstall the temporary speed bumps.
As a community we need to make people aware of the danger of speeding through the village and encourage everyone to slow down.
