In a shocking revelation, Cork County Council member Cllr John O’Sullivan (Fine Gael) has stated on Twitter that a contract to which he had put his name, has been changed without his knowledge or consent.
A malfunctioning, overflowing septic tank has required major repair work for over 20 years, and is now flooding the only public amenity area in Shannonvale. Remediation works were scheduled to commence in November 2017, but following the erection of planning notices and security fencing, no further action has been taken to date. Querying the 20-month absence of work crews on site, the Councillor offered the following comment:
“It’s absolutely appalling. I was chairman of the Western Division in 2013/14. I was party to the signing of a contract to provide a treatment plant for Clonakilty AND a pumping station for Shannonvale to pump waste to Clonakilty. Nobody will tell me who changed that contract.”
